Everything feels and looks strange. I don’t recognize this world anymore. We can’t talk to each other without fearing someone will get offended. It’s almost like its Thanksgiving every day and the crazy Uncle that hates all government is in control of the narrative. You know the one, the guy that has a negative reply or comment about everything and anything. He doesn’t back down and certainly would never admit they were wrong even when presented physical proof they are wrong. I used to enjoy a friendly, yet aggressive, conversation about politics and still feel like friends afterwards. I still don’t talk about religion; I’m an atheist if you’re wondering. Or, alternatively, my religion is Science (not Scientology, those dudes are whack).

Our rights are under attack by an unscrupulous group of people that basically need all the power. This has happened before; most will recall the litany of bombings in the 1970’s or Beirut in the 1980’s. These types of current event shifts have occurred roughly on a 80-year schedule since we’ve been keeping track of this. I won’t go into a lot of detail, if you’re interested, Self Reliance Central covers it all in decent detail. The jist of the theory is that humanity repeats it’s own history about every 80 years. Examples:

  • 2025: Russia-Ukraine War (or something worse?)
  • 1945: World War II
  • 1865: Civil War (United States)
  • 1785: Revolutionary War (United States)
  • 1705: Queen Ann’s War

It’s an interesting theory that tracks if the above list is anything to believe. The point here is that we’re at the end of the previous 80-year cycle and will soon be entering into a new 80-year cycle. I can only hope that the economic boom following WWII, one of the most prosperous times in United States history, happens again. Unfortunately, the reality is that AI will fundamentally shift how we complete most work and we will, as a race, need to figure out what we’re going to do with the displaced workers. Entire careers backed by degrees will likely disappear overnight. Is our next 80-year cycle going to be underpinned by AI?

Let’s have a discussion!
