In Another 80 Year Cycle

Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on Sept 10th, 2025.

I’m still letting that sink in right now. The blowback on this one tragedy is going to be swift and severe, at least I think so. I was not a fan of Kirk and didn’t agree with most of what he talked about on college campuses around the country. That doesn’t mean I wanted or wished him dead. It’s a weak person that chooses to take this type of action instead of learning other ways to get personal opinions across to others. My fear now is that Kirk will become a martyr for the MAGA movement and new talking point to combat the “liberalization” of the “once great American country.”

If it isn’t obvious at this point, I’m not a republican. I’m a centrist and fall on both sides of politics based on what is best for the many instead of the few. For example, I do not support the continued policy shift that makes billionaires even more rich than they were only a few years ago. What I do support are programs that lift people out of the lowest ranks of our country for the overall enrichment of all. A productive citizen supports the growth of a productive society, and we all benefit from the prosperity and wealth this creates.

We are in one hell of a down cycle this year: Ukraine War, Russian drones in Poland, France government on the verge of collapse, Israel and Hamas, Nepal protesting social media restrictions… I could go on for a few more but you get the idea. The pattern still holds though, 80 years ago was WWII, 80 years before that was the Civil War, and 80 years before that was the American Revolutionary War, and 80 years prior the English, French, and Spanish were fighting for colonial dominance. My fear is that this go around, there are nuclear weapons in the mix. While I believe that MAD has been the strongest deterrent up to now, all it takes is someone launching one weapon to start the war that ends the world.

I’m starting to get exhausted with all of this.
